Aristotle, Pagan Greek philosopher, [384 - 322 BC] Aristotelian logic played a major role in explaining the Christian Faith to gentile populations who had little, if any exposure to Judaic culture. Aristotle's logic points fundamentally to the necessity of God and lays a foundation to the acceptance of Christian virtues. So strong and long-lasting has been Aristotle's teaching, that generations of secular, as well as religious, scholars have been well trained in the Aristotelian school of logic. Thomas Aquinas relied heavily on Aristotelian logic in his writings, espcially the Summa Theologica. In fact, references to "the Philosopher" in Aquinas' writings refer to Aristotle.
